Happy Thursday! Life has been chaotic in the past few months and I have been terrible about keeping up with the blog. Between work, wedding planing, and a lupus flare life has been busy, exhausting, and exciting all at the same time. Anyway before I really start babbling, let's jump into this weeks thinking out loud.
1. We're just a little over fourth months away from getting married🎉Going from engaged to married in under a year certainly makes life busy, but for the most part we've been enjoying the planning process. It's going to be a small wedding, which we both preferred anyway and there will be so much good food and fun to go around. Next month we're traveling back to Michigan where my family is throwing us a wedding shower. I'm super excited to see my family again and introduce Brent to the rest of the family. Plus we'll get to spend some time with my crazy pup Cora🐶
2. Work has been busy as ever, but I've gotten to work on some really fun and inspiring stories. A few weeks back my photographer/best friend/bridesman and I got to look inside a fully restored C-54 plane from World War II. The museum spent over 16,000 hours restoring the plane (so.much.work) and the public has never been let inside. My photographer and I were shooting my standup and he made me start in front of the planes lavatory before going into the cockpit. He says the start by the bathroom was because I'm full of sh** 🤣
3. In the midst of this very busy season life decided to throw me a massive curve ball and my lupus started flaring. It had been flaring for quite some time, but it very quickly escalated this past week. I was forced to take all last week off of work and last Tuesday my fiancé drove me to the ER at 5 a.m. because the pain was unbearable. The ER pumped me full of drugs and sent me home. Most of Tuesday and much of Wednesday is a blur from pain medications. The frigid cold isn't helping matters either, but the biggest things has been my inability to sleep. I've been averaging 1-2 hours of sleep a night for a few weeks and I am beyond exhausted, yet I can't sleep. Lupus is a terrible disease and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
4. My fiancé has been absolutely incredible these past few weeks. He's always incredible, but I don't know how I would have made it this past week without him. He's been making lunches for work, driving me to doctor appointments, waking up in the middle of the night to take me to the ER and never leaving my side, making dinner, helping clean my apartment, and doing absolutely everything he can to make my life easier. Brent you have been the biggest help, I am beyond blessed to have you, and I love you more than words could ever describe💜
5. Oh how I wish I could make every girl out there understand this. Your perfect person is out there and you will find them when you least expect it. Brent and I were friends for a year before it become anything more and I was genuinely happy being single. You don't need to be in a relationship to feel loved. Your friends and family all love you. It's not the same love I get that, but enjoy the time you have being single. It's a beautiful season of life. I learned how strong I am, I invested time in myself, discovered new hobbies, threw myself into growing at work, went out with friends, and just lived life. Yes things are different now that Brent and I are engaged, but that doesn't mean I lost who I was when I was single. I'm glad I didn't throw myself into a relationship I knew wouldn't work because I never would have seen how incredible Brent is. The best part about being in a relationship besides loving someone and being loved is investing in someone- growing with them, learning with them, and doing life with them. I promise this relationship is worth waiting for.
Have a great Thursday and a fantastic weekend🎉🎉🎉

Happy New Year: Thinking Out Loud #110
Happy Thursday and Happy New Year! It's been a hot minute since I've posted and so much has happened. Wedding planning is in full force, work is busy per usual, and we've been enjoying every second of engaged life. This is such a sweet season in our lives and we know it will be over in the blink of an eye so we're trying to soak in every possible second. Anyway, let's jump into the last thinking out loud of 2018/first thinking out loud of 2019!
1. 2018 was by far the best year of my entire life. The first few months were a bit of a rollercoaster ride, but every second has been worth it. Brent and I have had undeniable chemistry from the start- both of us had been told by different friends that we should date- and clearly our friends were onto something. We knew after our first date we would get married and here we are less than six months before we get married. Every minute with this guy is so undeniably perfect. We're equally weird, share the same sense of humor, both adore puppies, share a sense of adventure, and put God and families first. This man is so much more than I could ever have dreamed of. I cannot wait to start this New Year and the start of forever with the most incredible man I've ever known💜
2. For the first time ever I did not have to work on Christmas Eve or Christmas. Brent and I spent both days together celebrating the birth of our savior and spending time via FaceTime with our families. Christmas Eve we went to a candlelight service, always my favorite, and then drove through the city looking at Christmas lights. Christmas morning we were both up bright and early we exchanged gifts, made breakfast, and soaked in the light and love of our first Christmas together and our first Christmas being engaged. It's been fun blending our families traditions and establishing our own. This year we're hoping to be a family of three- us and a puppy of course, no babies here😉
3. Speaking of puppies Brent and I spent a lot of time, like a LOT of time, at the local humane society. We go to socialize the puppies before they're adopted and frankly sometimes you just need some puppy love to brighten your day. Several times we've come close to walking out with a puppy (or two), but right now neither of us are in a situation to spend as much time with a pup as we'd want to. Once life slows down after the wedding we are both looking forward to adopting a pup and expanding our family. Of course we will be getting whatever pup we choose will be from the local humane society.
4. And while we're still talking about puppies we are going home to see my puppy in a few short weeks 😬🎉Work is graciously giving us some time to do wedding stuff, so we are flying to MI to see all of my family and have a wedding shower. Of course I'm super pumped to be seeing my family- most of whom I haven't seen in over half a year- but I'm also over the moon excited to see Cora and have her meet Brent. She's gonna love him I have no doubt🐶
5. Finally, as the year drew to a close I am beyond thankful for all the love, laughter, and amazing opportunities 2018 brought us. My heart found its way home with Brent. It's a home I know it's safe in forever and I can't wait to spend the rest of our lives falling more in love. I pray that as we begin our lives together we keep our focus on God and grow deeper in both our faith and love.
Thank you for being apart of our journey in 2018. We look forward to sharing even more with in the New Year. Wishing you a blessed and very happy New Year!
