Saturday Morning Total Body Workout

Saturday are my favorite day to workout. I'm not rushed, the gym is almost always empty, and I can have a long workout without worrying about being late for class. I workout really early because I'm up really early, but I love early morning workouts. It's peaceful, I am able to completely focus, and I use it as prayer time too. I didn't even realize my dry fit shirt matched my shoes until I took the picture!

This mornings workout was a total body workout. Legs, glutes, arms, shoulders, abs, and cardio it's all there! I always use the heaviest weights I can to get the best workout possible. If you try the workout post a picture and tag me!

I'm off to study for finals, but have a wonderful Saturday!

What's Not to Love About Maui?

I really don't think it's possible to wake up in a bad mood in Maui. Waking up to a gorgeous day, the ocean, and palm trees what could possibly be better? After working out I loved sitting on the lanai just watching the waves and soaking in the tropical air. Mornings are always so peaceful.

Hibiscus are one of my favorite flowers. They come in all colors of the rainbow and they are everywhere in Hawaii! When/if I buy a house in Hawaii I will most definitely be having a lot of hibiscus around my yard!

A lot of days we spent lounging by the ocean or the pool so we'd just go back and make lunch ourselves. Normally I'd have some type of salad and just throw in whatever we had in the fridge. Normally it would include a mix of greens, tomato slices, diced avocado, maybe some bell pepper, feta cheese, a hard boiled egg and some spices.

One of the best parts of Hawaii is the variety of fruits and vegetables available. A few of my friends who live around the U.S. had been raving about purple sweet potatoes. I searched every grocery I could find and could never find purple sweet potatoes. When I found purple sweet potatoes in Maui I did a happy dance! They are so good and I definitely prefer them to regular sweet potatoes. Sadly you can't bring fruits and vegetables back to the mainland from Hawaii (and vice versa) otherwise I would have brought back like five pounds of purple sweet potatoes in my suitcase (totally weird I know).

Sometimes as a morning or afternoon snack I'd get an açai bowl- any time is a good time for an açai bowl! I'm pretty sure I ate my weight in açai bowls while I was in Maui...

One afternoon while I was snacking on an açai bowl on the lanai I was treated to a gorgeous rainbow! It was so vibrant over part of the mountains! Rainbows are another one of my favorite things about Maui. Really I just love everything about Maui- all the more reason to move!

Relaxing Maui Nights

I still have so many posts from Maui to share but I am determined to get them all up! We did eat out while in Maui, but we also stayed back and made dinner ourselves a lot. Going out to eat is crazy expensive in Maui and while groceries aren't exactly cheap it's cheaper than eating out. One of my favorite salads to make was a salmon salad. It's easy and all the vegetables are so fresh in Maui- I've to go anywhere that has better avocados than Maui!

The salad had 2 cups mixed greens, 1 on the vine tomato cut into chunks, 1/6 avocado diced, 1/8 cup diced red bell pepper, 1 tablespoon feta cheese, 1 grilled salmon fillet cut apart, and a pinch of fresh ground black pepper.

My favorite thing to do every night was watch the sunset. There is nothing like a Maui sunset. A lot of nights I would go down to the beach to watch the sunset and I wouldn't take my camera or anything with me. It's so peaceful to live in the moment and enjoy nature without distraction. I enjoy the simple moments in life like beautiful sunsets on the beach because it makes me focus on God who created incredible places like Maui. God is definitely a beautiful artist.

Every night a little shopping center that was by where we were staying had a hula show. Little girls would perform dances and they were usually accompanied by someone singing. It was so cute! They always did such a good job and it was fun to watch.

One night the hula show was done by a family. The dad played ukulele and sang, the mom also sang and told a legend about the origin of hula, and the daughters did the hula dance. They were really talented and I loved watching them! I wish I could hula because they always look so graceful, but I'll leave it to the Hawaiians!
