Pretty Clouds & Ugly Faces: Thinking Out Loud #99

Happy Thursday! It's felt like a long week, especially the past few days. I just have not been able to sleep and have felt like I'm walking through a fog. Anyone else ini desperate need of a solid 24 hours of sleep😴Good news is it's my weekend so I plan on taking PLENTY of naps and I have zero shame in admitting I love naps. Anyway, let's jump into this weeks thinking out loud

1. Yesterday while driving I was going in and out of rain showers. I got to see some really beautiful cloud formations (weather nerd alert). I've always wanted to see a shelf cloud so I was really excited to see one even though it's pretty small. Cloud formations have always fascinated me so seeing this was pretty exciting. Random I know🤷

2. Wind is not a female reporters friend. I was filming a stand up when the wind started blowing, not overly strong, but strong enough to move my hair, and it kept getting stuck in my lip gloss. Of course getting it unstuck involves making some really attractive faces. Then our overnight reporter was going through the footage and being a good friend she sent me all the ugly faces I made🙈You just gotta laugh about this stuff or you'd go crazy.

3. Sunrise will always be my favorite time of day. It's always so peaceful because so few people are awake and out yet. I love watching the sunrise, which is why sunrise runs will always be my favorite.

4. Love always comes when you least expect it. I know everyone always says that, but it's so true. I never expected to be in the relationship that I am now. If someone would have told me that I'd be this happy and in love a year ago I would have laughed. Time changes things and I'm glad it does. I know there's so much pressure to get out there and date, but I think taking a step backing and learning to be genuinely happy by yourself will lead you to the person you're meant to be with when you least expect it.

Have a terrific Thursday and a great weekend🎉🎉🎉

Fat Cats and Flowers: Thinking Out Loud #98

Happy Thursday! I'm so glad it's my weekend because holy smokes I was exhausted yesterday. I could barely keep my eyes open at work. All I plan on doing this weekend besides cleaning my apartment is taking a nap (or two or five)😴The weather is finally a bit cooler and it's amazing! It's been so hot for so long that the low to mid 80's is sweet relief. Now if only the humidity would go down so I could stop having an afro for hair. Anyway, let's jump into this weeks thinking out loud

1. I have the sweetest boyfriend in the entire world. Everyone has rough days, that's part of life, but I came home to find beautiful flowers and the sweetest note. I can't even begin to express how blessed I am to have him in my life. He goes so far above and beyond it blows me away. I'm not into fancy dinners or constant gifts, or or anything, but the fact he took the time to sneak flowers into my apartment so I could see them when I got home just makes my heart burst with love. I'm blessed beyond measure💜

2. I'm sorry I had to share one more because they're beautiful. I love sunflowers and I instantly smile every time I walk into my apartment. One of my best friends told me that a man who surprises a woman with flowers for no reason is one worth keeping, she's definitely right🌸

3. Y'all know I love animals, but holy smokes this is one fat cat! Occasionally we go to the human society to look at and play with the puppies (a very dangerous thing to do), but this time we looked at the cats too. Neither of us are massive cat people, we like them, but prefer dogs, but this cat was so fat and adorable. He definitely needs to go on a diet, but that sleeping face is hard to resist🐱

4. The best part about my job is every day is something different. I get to meet really cool people and share amazing stories. This week I got to share a story that was special to me. Seven local veterans were given the opportunity to fly in this restored 1940's war plane. Many of the veterans had been pilots during World War II or Vietnam. Some of them hadn't been back in a plane since. Seeing the emotions of the veterans as they got back in a plane and got to experience flying again was so incredible. I have so much respect for veterans, especially since both my grandfathers served in World War II.

5. I don't have anything to say because this says it all. You are loved, you are worthy, you have a purpose. Don't ever forget that. Don't ever let anyone tell you any different.

Have a terrific Thursday and an amazing weekend🎉🎉🎉

Dogs Days of Summer: Thinking Out Loud #97

Happy Thursday! This week has flown by, maybe it's because it was only five days working instead of eight, but regardless I'm happy for the weekend. It's hotter than an oven outside currently, so I'm very happy typing in my air conditioned apartment. I never minded the heat in Michigan, but Nebraska heat takes it to another level. It really is insufferable with the heat and humidity. Maybe I'm overly fussy when it comes to the cold and heat (probably true). Anyway let's jump into this weeks thinking out loud.

1. My photographer/one of my best friends and I got stuck doing a live shot outside in the heat. Ironically the story was about the dangers of being outside in the heat. Thankfully, we were not outside for long but even in a matter of 15 minutes we were sweaty and ready to get back in the air conditioning inside the live truck. I'm also fairly certain my makeup was melting off my face as I was doing my live shot. Reporter problems🙈

2. One of the best parts of my jobs is getting to report on so many different stories and events happening around town. Dog yoga is always my favorite and when I get to go for work it's even better!

3. I've gotten some questions about what being on TV is actually like and I'll be the first to say it's a ton of work. Reporting isn't about wearing pretty dresses and having nice makeup. First off, I have to buy all my own clothes and makeup. No one hands me money so I can make myself look presentable when I'm delivering the news. I do my own hair and makeup and by no means am an expert in either category. I shoot all my own video, edit it, write the story, get it up online, and get it on social media. Then when the show rolls around I front it, meaning I'll be in the newsroom, in studio, or in the field sharing the story. While it is a ton of work, with long hours, and very little pay it's the best job in the entire world. I get to meet the most amazing people and share stories that matter. To me that's incredibly rewarding.

4. I am beyond blessed. My boyfriend leaves little notes for me to find and when I was going to make my grocery list I found this in the notebook I always use. I could brag on him forever because he is the most amazing man. I'm the luckiest girl in the world to have him💜

5. You were made for more than shallow love. You were made to be loved on good days, bad days, ugly cry days, and everything in between. Never settle. Guard your heart for everything you do flows from it.

Have a terrific Thursday and a great weekend🎉🎉🎉

1. How do you show love to others?
2. What is your dream job?

Puppy Kisses and Heat: Thinking Out Loud #96

Happy Thursday and belated 4th of July to my fellow Americans🇺🇸It's been a toasty week in the midwest and it's made me say what I never thought I would...I actually miss snow. Maybe not the snow and cold, but it's been in the 100's all week with equal parts humidity. It's miserable, especially when working outside all day. Anyway let's jump into this weeks thinking out loud!

1. This sweet girl never fails to make my day. She hasn't been outside a lot because of the extreme heat (which is a good thing), so I hadn't seen her in a few days. I walked out to my car to go to work the other morning and she came BOLTING to the fence. She was like a pogo stick, just so excited. Dogs really are the best. Her sweet kisses never fail to make my day and really how could you not love a face like that?!

2. As a reporter I get to share some really awesome stories. In the past few months I've reported on numerous fires, a lot of them caused by cigarettes, but this fire was one started on purpose. I joked with my coworkers that it was just another day at the office watching stuff burn down. A local fire department purposely burned a house down. It was part of a training exercise for them and it was pretty awesome to be there. It was one of the hottest fires I had ever been to and even from a safe distance away I could feel the heat of the flames. Our first responders are so selfless rushing into burning buildings to save people. I have so much respect for them and the work they do because I know I could never run into a burning building, but they do it willingly.

3. Like I said, it's been HOT here. Holy smokes. I've never experience heat like I have in Nebraska. Michigan is humid, but Nebraska takes it to another level. The humidity is so oppressive and 100 degrees feels like 2 million degrees. It's a sickening heat actually. Never in a million years did I think I would miss the snow or even cooler fall temps but I do. Then I see people outside running in this heat and I'm just like HOW?! I would pass out not even a quarter mile in.

4. Despite the oppressive heat I have spent some time near the lake. There's a few lakes near Lincoln and it's nice to go out there and be by the water again. I do miss having a lake in my backyard like I did in Michigan, but this is still nice too. You can take me away from the lake, but I'll always be a lake girl at heart. The lake is my happy place. Now if only there was a place in Nebraska that rented paddleboards I would be in heaven.

5. This quote💜 I shared it on my instagram stories earlier this week and got a ton of really positive feedback. I don't even have anything to comment on because it's so beautifully said.

Have a terrific Thursday and a great weekend! Be safe if you go to any firework shows🎉🎉🎉
