Ask any animal lover and they will tell you that their pet is part of the family. It's no different with me, Cora is basically my child (a spoiled one) and I only want what's best for her.
The majority of the time when we travel Cora comes with us, but when she can't come with us I am meticulous about where to board her. I have EXTREMELY high expectations for how she will be treated and for the facility where she will be.
Recently PetSmart reached out to me and invited Cora and I to come down and check out their PetsHotel and to help them celebrate National Ice Cream Day, which is July 19th.
I was beyond impressed with the PetSmart PetsHotel facility. First off it's HUGE! But the two things that impressed me the most (as an overprotective dog owner) were the facility is spotless, like eat off the floor spotless, and the workers treat the pets like their own. The kennels for dogs and cats (which are kept separate) are spacious and both areas were so quiet. It was really relaxing, I would have been down for taking a nap there.
Let's get to the uber fun part...FREE DOGGY ICE CREAM! Cora was invited to be a taste tester to help kick off PetSmart's celebration of National Ice Cream Day on July 19th. I am very, very careful about what I give Cora. I don't like her having a lot of people food so the first question I had to know was what is the doggy ice cream made of? Basically it's frozen water with flavor, but it's allergy friendly and it looks like frozen yogurt! Had I not just had lunch I might have been digging in with Cora...
Cora gets really, really nervous riding in the car so I wasn't sure how she would do once we got to the store. To be honest she was really nervous, but the workers were beyond amazing with her! They kept petting her and they brought out toys, which ALWAYS get her attention. I was really impressed with how patient and loving they were with her.
Getting a dog to pose is hard work, especially when they want to dig in to their yummy treat! Props to animal photographers who must have unlimited patience.
